What Would You See if You Had Only Three Days?
Imagine living in a world without light or sound. Helen Keller was a famous American
woman who could neither see nor hear from a young age. However, she wrote many
books and helped many people. One of her most famous essays is called Three Days to
See. In this story, she shared a wonderful idea: what she would do if she were given her
sight for just three days.
On the first day, Helen wanted to see the people who were kind to her. She wanted to look
into the eyes of her teacher, Anne Sullivan, who opened the world for her. She also wanted
to walk in the woods to see the beautiful colors of nature and watch a colorful sunset. For
Helen, seeing the faces of her loved ones was the most important thing.
On the second and third days, she wanted to see the history and the daily life of human
beings. She planned to visit museums to see how humans lived in the past. She also
wanted to spend time in a big city to watch busy people, theaters, and parks. Helen said
that people who can see often look at things without really seeing them. Her words teach
us to realize how beautiful our everyday life is.
Question:
If you had only three days to see, what would you want to see the most? Why?
